Glossary

Wall-hugger Single Motor Chair
A mechanism that lifts and reclines using 1 motor. This mechanism only requires 4-5” of clearance behind the chair to recline.
Dual Motor Rise and Recline Chair
This is a mechanism that operates using 2 motors. One motor operates the footrest of the chair and the other motor operates the back. This means that the footrest and back are operated independently enabling foot up and back up positioning if required.
2-Way Tilt in Space
The 2-way mechanism ensures a smooth movement going into recline and lift. The angle of the back and seat during these movements remain constant, hence this chair is ideal if you have a back problem and do not wish for the position of your back to change.
Trio-Lift
2-way tilt-in-space, vertical lift and combination single motor action for ease of transfer and carer contact.
Recline Only Chair
A mechanism that has a wall-hugger action recline and no lift. The motor is restricted to prevent lift.
Lift Only Chair
A mechanism that has a restricted motor that creates a lift only facility and not recline.
Manual Chair
A mechanism that has a wall-hugging action recline. Manually operated by a handle, which can be either situated on the left or right hand side of the chair.
3-way Rise and Recline Chair
A single motor chair that operates the back and legrest together. This mechanism requires 12" - 15" behind the chair to recline.
Heavy-Duty Chairs
These chairs cater for the heavier client. Available within the range are up to 25 stone and up to 35 stones single and dual motor chairs. The motor chairs within these ranges are not wall-huggers, so require 12 – 15” of clearance behind the back. Seat Widths range from 22” to 28”.
Bariatric Chairs
These chairs are for the over 35 stone client. They have 4 motors, one to power the footrest, one for the back and two for the lift operation. The metal frame is manufactured using 2” box steel. The footrest has a leg lift capacity of 25 stones. There are two seat widths available, 2ft 6” and 3ft, which are 40 stone and 60 stone lift respectively.
5 Part 4 Movement Action
All the bed mechanisms that we use in the beds are split into 5 parts, the head, back, seat, thigh and calf section. The 4 movement refers to the 4 out f the 5 parts that move. All of the sections move apart from the seat section.
