4 Ways to stay stress-free in 2019

In today’s society, we are constantly on the move. The frequent activity and pressure present in our day to day life can contribute to our stress levels. Whether you are suffering from health complications or are constantly on your feet, taking a break to allow your body and mind to relax is vital.

To help you out, we’ve come up with a quick guide to help you reduce your stress for the new year.

Meditation

Incorporating meditation in your routine can make a huge difference on your wellbeing. Spending time out of your day for yourself is very powerful. It gives you the opportunity for your mind and body to relax and rejuvenate. When you have emotions bottled in and built up it can cause negative physical effects on your body.  By including meditation in your daily routine, it will help you to become more present and mindful.

To begin your meditation journey, we suggest you start on your breathing. The first step is to get yourself in a comfortable seating position in a chair that provides you with good posture and support. Then, place your hand on your stomach and your other hand on your chest area. Breathe deeply in through your nose so that your stomach expands out. In theory, your chest should not move during this exercise. Next, breath out gently through your mouth and feel your stomach go back in. Repeat this method 4 to 10 times and you should begin to feel more relaxed and at ease.

By simply focusing on your breathing can reduce your heart rate which is crucial for reducing stress.

Light Exercise

If you have an elderly relative, a simple phone call or visit can help them alleviate any stress. Laughter is another great remedy to relieve some of the built-up tension.

A good nights sleep

Not getting enough sleep during the night can cause your stress levels to increase. if you are currently finding it difficult to fall asleep, a bedtime routine is an ideal way to allow yourself to wind down. We suggest you create a consistent sleeping schedule to help regulate your body clock.

With that said, poor sleep isn’t always due to our routine. There are many factors that can contribute to why we aren’t able to achieve a good night sleep. One of these is the bed itself.

Having a bed and mattress that suits your needs can improve your overall sleep quality. As sleeping is the time where your body repairs and restores itself, laying in an uncomfortable position during the night can create unnecessary pressure and pain on the joints.
